Games Like Kholat

Kholat is a hauntingly atmospheric adventure that pulls you into a chilling mystery set in the remote Ural Mountains. You play as a member of a real-life expedition that vanished in 1959, exploring the frozen wilderness through a first-person lens. The game feels more like walking through a living photograph than playing a traditional video game. You move slowly through snow-covered forests, climb icy cliffs, and uncover clues left behind by the original hikers. There’s no combat, no quick cuts, just quiet moments of exploration and discovery. The soundtrack swells with unease, and the way the wind howls through the trees makes every step feel heavy. You’re not fighting monsters or saving the world. You’re just trying to piece together what happened to a group of people who vanished under mysterious circumstances. The beauty lies in the stillness and the way the environment tells its own story.
