Games Like Alien Nations

Alien Nations is a fascinating strategy game from the late 90s where you take control of one of several alien civilizations vying for dominance of a newly discovered planet. It’s a turn based game so you carefully plan your moves expanding your territory building up your military and managing your resources. The unique aspect is the diplomacy element you’re constantly negotiating with other alien factions forming alliances or engaging in trade or of course warfare. It’s not a simple conquer all scenario though; each alien race has distinct strengths weaknesses and even unique technologies to research. The game offers both single player campaigns where you guide your chosen civilization to victory and a robust multiplayer mode allowing you to test your strategic skills against other players. If you enjoy games that require thoughtful planning and a bit of political maneuvering with a cool sci fi setting Alien Nations is definitely worth checking out for a nostalgic trip.
