2Doom by trashwizard flips the script on classic Doom by turning it into a 2D side-scrolling shooter that somehow still feels fast and chaotic. You're blasting through tight corridors filled with demons that now attack from the left and right instead of all around, but the intensity is absolutely still there. The game keeps the core loop of grab a weapon quick and start shooting with everything from the pistol to the BFG making the jump to 2D. Movement is snappy and responsive and even though the perspective changes the adrenaline rush of surviving a monster horde is completely intact. It’s a clever minimalist take that fans of Doom will instantly appreciate but it’s also simple enough for anyone to jump into and have fun. The whole thing runs in your browser so no install is needed and each level feels like a little puzzle in how you approach the enemy waves. It’s a brilliant remix that honors the original while doing something totally fresh and playable in short bursts or longer runs.
