Games Like Super Contra (1988)

Super Contra from 1988 throws you into a high-octane action blast where you play as a lone soldier fighting through waves of enemy soldiers and giant robots across a series of intense levels. You move fast, jump with precision, and blast your way through tight corridors, open fields, and underground bunkers. The game rewards timing and precision as you dodge enemy fire and land perfect shots. One of the most memorable parts is the secret password system that lets you skip tough sections if you get stuck. You can play solo or team up with a friend in co-op mode, which adds a fun layer of teamwork. The pixel art is sharp for its time, the music is driving and energetic, and every level feels like a cinematic showdown. It’s not flashy or modern but it’s pure arcade adrenaline that still holds up for fans of old-school action.
