Crystal Quest from 1987 is a really interesting game because it doesn't quite fit into one box. It feels like a mix of different ideas a bit like a retro game sampler. You control a character exploring various worlds trying to collect crystals. The gameplay involves a lot of searching and figuring out how to interact with the environment. There are puzzles to solve and some light combat thrown in. It’s not super deep but it’s charming in its simplicity. The graphics are very much a product of their time which gives it a unique nostalgic feel. It's the kind of game where you’re constantly discovering something new, even if it’s just a quirky animation or a hidden pathway.
