Catan is a really clever board game where you become a settler on a newly discovered island. The goal is to be the first to reach ten victory points. You do this by building settlements cities and roads strategically across the island. The island is made up of hexagonal tiles that produce different resources like wood brick wool grain and ore. Each turn you roll dice and collect resources based on which tiles your settlements and cities are on. You then use these resources to build more structures or buy development cards which can give you special advantages. Trading with other players is a huge part of the game so you'll be negotiating and making deals to get what you need. It’s a game about planning resource management and a little bit of luck making every game feel different and engaging. It's easy to learn but offers surprising depth and replayability.
