Before Death is a really unique simulation game where you play as a soul in the afterlife. Instead of a traditional story you actually get to build and manage your own world. You start with nothing and slowly gather resources crafting structures and influencing the inhabitants. It’s surprisingly chill at first focusing on simple tasks but it quickly evolves into a complex system where you’re constantly balancing needs and desires. There’s a real sense of progression as you unlock new technologies and expand your influence. It’s not about fighting or fast reflexes it’s about thoughtful planning and watching your little world flourish. The 2D visuals are charming and the game provides a surprisingly calming experience even as things get busy. If you enjoy games where you can create and experiment at your own pace and like a bit of strategic depth without overwhelming complexity you’ll probably really enjoy Before Death. It’s a wonderfully inventive take on the simulation genre.
