Games Like Azul

Azul is a really satisfying abstract strategy game where you’re decorating the walls of the Royal Palace of Évora. You draw tiles from bags and then carefully choose which ones to place on your personal board. The goal is to create complete rows or columns of matching color tiles to score points. It sounds simple but there’s a surprising amount of planning involved because the tiles you need might be taken by other players. The game has a beautiful tactile quality with the smooth, colorful tiles and it’s just incredibly pleasing to build up your wall. It plays quickly and is easy to learn making it perfect for a casual game night but it also offers enough strategic depth to keep experienced gamers engaged. It’s a game that feels good to play and visually it’s just stunning.
